Despite situs inversus, dextrocardia & transposition of great arteries, the expert team ensured survival with a minimally invasive approach. Oxygen saturation improved from <50% to 88-90%!

For the first time, AIIMS Jodhpur has successfully performed Truncus Repair & Arterial Switch Operation—two of the most complex congenital heart surgeries—on a 6-month-old girl and a 5-month-old boy. This achievement highlights the hospital’s expertise in high-risk pediatric cardiac care.

Historic Achievement! AIIMS Jodhpur sets a new precedent by successfully treating a 9-year-old boy with a rare genetic form of dystonia caused by the KMT2B mutation, marking Rajasthan’s first such procedure! This condition led to severe, painful twisting movements in various parts of his body.
The boy underwent a bilateral pallidotomy, significantly improving his condition. Multidisciplinary approach involved pediatric neurologists, neurosurgeons, interventional radiologists, anaesthetists and Rare disease experts. Surgery, performed free of cost under Ayushman Bharat, offers new hope for similar cases.
