About AIIMS Jodhpur
AIIMS, Jodhpur is one of the six new AIIMS established as apex healthcare institutes by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) with the aim of addressing and correcting regional imbalances in quality tertiary level healthcare in the country, and attaining self-sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
About Jodhpur
The former capital of Marwar state, Jodhpur, was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha. According to the Rathore tradition, the clan traces its origins back to Lord Rama. Situated on the foothill of a sandstone mound, it belongs to the oldest mountain system of Aravalli in the world. The city of Jodhpur has grown around the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort. The old walled city is protected by a high stone wall with seven gates and countless bastions. The 'blue' city of Jodhpur is the second largest city of Rajasthan enriching the desert with entrepreneurship, scholarship and art. The city is proud to home to institutions such as AIIMS, IIT, NLU, NIFT etc. Jodhpur is world renowned for its handicraft industries.
The climate is moderate during October. Nights are comparatively colder than daytime. Days are accompanied by plenty of sunshine and clear skies. Sightseeing in Jodhpur: Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Girdikot and Sardar Market, Tulhati Mahal, Museum, Mandore garden, Kaylana Lake and Balsammad Lake.
