Workshop on Research Grant Writing

Overall research productivity in terms of research grants and peer-reviewed publications from the Indian Medical Institutions is limited compared with other parts of the world. There are several reasons for relatively low research output (e.g. protected time, lack of awareness about grant funding mechanisms, communication skills etc.). In response, several institutions are offering workshops to equip faculty in grant writing skills. Hence, while the participants are flooded with theoretical knowledge, the knowledge does not necessarily translate into an actual research grant.

About the Workshop

In the 3-day hands-on grant writing workshop the participants will be assigned to a small group and each group will work on a specific proposal under the guidance of a Mentor. The group will work on the proposal and modify it as per discussion held during the workshop. On the third day each group will present the proposal in front of grant proposal assessment committee which will consist of mentors. This workshop is very hands-on and intensive with the goal of providing participants with real world exposure to grant writing and defending the same in front of the Grant Writing Committee. At the end of this workshop the group is envisioned to produce a workable protocol which can be submitted to funders after addressing the feedback/suggestions provided by the Grant Assessment Committee.

Objectives

At the end of this workshop participants shall be able to
  • Finalize a topic for writing the research grant
  • Formulate specific objectives for the grant proposal
  • Conduct systematic search and synthesize the evidence regarding the selected topic
  • Write the research grant proposal for submission to different funding agencies
  • Defend the proposal in front of the Funding Agencies

The application form includes basic information about the participant along with the concept proposal (1500 Words).Selection of Participants will be based on the evaluation of concept proposals and Motivation letter.

The last date of application is November 15th 2017 till 0500 PM.

The selected participants will be intimated latest by 20th November 2017 through email.

Course Fee: INR 3500/-

(Includes Course Material, Breakfast, Working Lunch (3) and Dinner (2))

The Course fee is to be deposited by the selected candidates only.
